Sherpo in general

See the page
What can I sell on Sherpo?

Courses, series, blogs, live portfolios, files and links, coaching, memberships, tips and goals, and much more. You can mix them in one account.

Can I accept tips or set a goal?

Yes. Tips & Goals gives you a tipping page with preset or custom amounts, and goals that show your progress in real time.

Can I hide a product from my store?

Yes. An unlisted product stays off your storefront and opens only from its link. Mark a product discontinued when you stop selling it.

Can I choose which products come first?

Yes. Each product is listed as primary or secondary, and a priority sets the order on your storefront.

Can I sell in my own currency?

Yes. Price your products in your own currency, and filter orders by currency in the dashboard.

Can I run more than one business?

Yes. One login can hold several businesses, each with its own team, payouts and billing, and each business can run several stores, each billed at its plan’s price. You switch between them from the top of the dashboard.

Can I schedule a launch?

Yes. Set a publish date, and the product goes live on its own. Until then, it shows as scheduled. You can schedule lessons too.

Does my site have a dark mode?

Yes. Your site comes in a light and a dark theme, and you can preview both on desktop, tablet and phone before you publish. You can also make your site or any product page light only or dark only.

How do my customers pay?

You choose for each product: a one-time payment, a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly subscription, tiers, a bundle, a license key, or free. Checkout takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and buy-now-pay-later.

Can I sell simple downloads?

Yes. Files and links are delivered as soon as someone pays, and for private files you can see which customer downloaded each one. You choose the security for each file. On standard or full security, PDFs carry a watermark with your site address and the buyer’s email, IP address and timestamp, and XLSX files get a read-only audit sheet.

Is there a limit on products or downloads?

Products, downloads, customer reviews and exports are unlimited. Plans are sized by storage and customers. Lite covers 2,500 customers, and customers are unlimited on Pro.

Which features need Pro?

Lite covers the core of Sherpo on a site Sherpo hosts for you, with the Merchant API, webhooks and both MCPs. Pro keeps that hosted site and adds a self-hosted option in your own codebase, a custom domain, white-label, up to 30 custom pages, quizzes and certificates, AI transcripts, subtitles, summaries and chapters for your videos, and team members with roles and access permissions.

Can I host my videos on Sherpo?

Yes. Lite includes 10 GB of storage for video and files, and Pro includes 100 GB. Video is delivered with no bandwidth fees. Pro also includes 600 AI video minutes a month per store.

Can I offer something for free?

Yes. You can run a free tier or a lead magnet to grow your list. Free sign-ups are customers like everyone else in your list, and are part of the customers your plan includes.

Can I sell my products in bundles?

Yes. A bundle sells several products together at one price, and you can mix formats inside it.

Can I run an affiliate program?

Yes. You can invite affiliates, give each one a link, and track the sales they bring and the payouts they are owed.

Can I run a flash sale?

Yes. Give a coupon an expiration date for a flash sale, or leave it always on. You can create several coupons, including one for each tier, and track how each one performs.

Can I connect Meta Pixel or Google?

Yes. Sherpo has analytics integrations with Meta Pixel, Google and Cloudflare, so you can measure your ads and your traffic.

Can my customers use my products in their AI?

Yes. Every product on Sherpo opens through MCP, the standard that connects AI assistants to other tools. Customers connect their own AI assistant to your store, and it can read what they unlocked and answer from it. Access follows what they bought, and you can keep a product’s MCP access to one tier. Through the same connection, customers can also buy your products and see their subscriptions.

Can I use all this on my own website?

Yes, on Pro. With Sherpo in your own codebase, you keep your own front-end, and Sherpo runs behind it.

What does Sherpo One add?

Additional volume discounts, security and admin features, a signed data processing agreement and help with security reviews, an uptime commitment, invoices with purchase orders, onboarding with our team and a named contact. Write to sales@sherpo.io.

Do you sign a data processing agreement?

Yes, on Sherpo One. On every plan, Sherpo processes your customers’ data on your behalf under our Privacy Policy.

Do you take a cut of my sales?

No. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales on every plan. You pay a flat price, plus your payment provider’s standard processing fees.

Which plan should I pick?

Sherpo hosts your site on every plan. Pick Lite if a sherpo.io address is fine for now. Pick Pro if you want your own domain, the full feature set, or a self-hosted front-end with Sherpo in your own codebase.

What does Pro add to Lite?

Pro adds a self-hosted option in your own codebase, a custom domain, white-label, up to 30 custom pages, quizzes and certificates, AI transcripts, subtitles, summaries and chapters for your videos, and team members with roles and access permissions. Both plans include a site Sherpo hosts for you: on Lite it lives at a sherpo.io address, and you build your homepage with the page builder. The Merchant API, webhooks and both MCPs are on every plan.

Do I need to code to build my site?

No. On your Sherpo site you build pages from modular blocks, such as images, video, product cards, pricing tables and FAQs. Lite covers your homepage, and Pro adds up to 30 custom pages.

Who handles sales tax and VAT?

You do. You sell as your own business, so collecting and filing sales tax or VAT is up to you.

Is Sherpo a merchant of record?

No. Sales go through your own Stripe account, in your name. On every plan, you can also sell through a merchant of record (a provider that sells in its own name and handles sales tax) and record each sale through the Merchant API. Sherpo does not provide one.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. On Pro and Sherpo One, you can bring your own domain. On Lite, your site always lives at yoursite.sherpo.io.

Who counts as a customer?

Everyone in your list: people who bought once, active subscribers and free sign-ups. Lite covers 2,500, and Pro is unlimited.

What happens when I reach a limit?

Sherpo tells you in the dashboard. Over a limit on customers, storage, team seats or stores, you have 7 days over the limit, counted in total, to upgrade or get back under the limit. After that, new purchases and unlocks pause, while sign-ups, your customers’ access and their renewals keep going; at 14 days your stores go offline, and at 44 they are deleted. On Pro, customers are unlimited, and you can add 100 GB of storage for $10 a month, with volume discounts on larger amounts, or 600 AI video minutes per store for $10 a month.

Are the AI features extra?

No. Every plan includes AI writing help in the editor and AI review insights. Pro adds video transcription, subtitles, summaries and chapters, generated when you ask, for up to 600 minutes of video per store a month, and you can add 600 more minutes for $10 a month.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Lite and Pro start with a 14-day free trial, and you can keep your site offline until you are ready to launch.

Can I pay yearly?

Yes. Pay yearly and you get about 2 months free: $192 a year for Lite ($16 a month) and $492 a year for Pro ($41 a month).

Can I use my hosted site and a self-hosted front-end together?

Yes, on Pro. Your hosted site stays live, and your self-hosted front-end, in your own codebase, works from the same products, customers and subscriptions, so nothing has to be migrated.

Can I upgrade from Lite to Pro later?

Yes. Your products, customers and subscriptions stay where they are, and the Pro features switch on.

Can I use my own payment provider?

Yes. Checkout on your site runs on Stripe. On every plan, you can take payment elsewhere and record each sale through the Merchant API, and Sherpo grants what was bought.

Can you help me move from another platform?

Yes. Contact us and tell us what you are moving. Our team handles the move with you, content and customers included.

Is migration available today?

Yes. Contact us and tell us what you are moving. Our team handles the move with you, content and customers included.

Which platforms can I switch from?

Kajabi, Substack, Teachable, Thinkific, Podia, Gumroad, beehiiv, Patreon, Ghost, Skool, Stan Store, Udemy and WordPress are the ones people ask about most. If yours is not on the list, ask us.

What can I bring with me?

Usually your content, your customer list and your products and prices. Past orders can be imported too. Tell us what you have, and we will confirm what carries over before you decide.

Will my subscribers have to sign up again?

That depends on how they are billed today. We look at it with you and tell you what will happen before you move.

What happens to my videos?

We move your videos with you. On Sherpo, they are hosted and delivered with no bandwidth fees, and on Pro, Sherpo drafts AI subtitles, summaries and chapters for them when you ask.

Can I keep my domain and my old links?

Yes. On Pro and Sherpo One, you can bring your own domain and set redirects, so your old links keep working.

Can I try Sherpo before I move?

Yes. Lite and Pro start with a 14-day free trial, and you can keep your site offline until you are ready to switch your audience over.

How long does a migration take?

It depends on how much you are moving. We give you an estimate when you write to us.

Can I move in stages?

Yes. You can move one product at a time, and keep your current platform running until everything is on Sherpo.

How do I start?

Write to us with the platform you are on and what you sell there. We reply with what carries over and how the move would go.

Products

What can I build with the Sherpo course builder?

Video courses made of lessons, grouped into chapters if you want, with descriptions, embedded slides, quizzes and certificates. Video is hosted for you, and on Pro AI drafts a lesson’s subtitles, summary and video chapters when you ask.

How is a course organized?

A course is a list of lessons. You can group them into chapters, or leave them as lessons on their own. Every lesson has its own title and description, and can carry a video and slides. Progress is tracked the way you set it: when a student finishes the video or the slides, when they mark a lesson as done themselves, or not at all.

Does the video player match my brand?

Yes. The player takes your brand colors automatically, so it matches your site on every lesson with nothing to set up. The player also supports subtitles, picture-in-picture and playback speed from 0.5× to 2×.

Does Sherpo create subtitles, summaries and chapters?

Yes, on Pro. Sherpo drafts AI subtitles, summaries and video chapters when you ask, for up to 600 minutes of video per store a month, and you publish them once you have checked them.

Can students get the transcript of a lesson?

Yes, through their AI, on Pro. Once you generate and publish a lesson’s transcript, it is available through MCP, the standard that connects AI assistants to other tools, so a student’s assistant can search what you said and answer from it. Students also get the subtitles, summary and video chapters you publish on the lesson page.

Can I add slides to a lesson?

Yes. Students flip through your PDFs inside the lesson. By default, the slides are view-only, so students cannot reach the original files. You can also turn downloads on if you want them to keep a copy.

Can students download my videos?

No. Video protection is always on. It keeps students from downloading and redistributing the videos embedded on the page.

What do locked lessons show?

A teaser, if you write one. It is a short text shown in place of the lesson, along with how to get access.

Can I label text written with AI?

Yes. Turn on Generated text for a lesson, and readers see a note that the text was generated.

Can some lessons be free?

Yes. You can make any lesson free for anyone, including visitors who have not logged in. Use free lessons to let people sample the course, or just to keep a few free videos on your site.

Can I add quizzes and certificates?

Yes, on Pro. Quizzes check what students learned. Each certificate carries a QR code that opens a verification page with the student, the course, the score and the date.

Can students use my course in their AI?

Every course is available through MCP, so your students’ AI assistants can search the lessons and answer from them. The course links to your site’s /mcp/help page, with the steps to connect, and access follows what each student paid for.

Is video hosting included?

Yes. Lite includes 10 GB of storage and Pro includes 100 GB, and video is delivered with no bandwidth fees. Pro also includes 600 AI video minutes a month per store.

How can I sell my course?

You can sell it once, by subscription, inside a tier or in a bundle. You can add coupons and affiliates, and Sherpo takes 0% of your sales.

Can I move my course from another platform?

Yes. Contact us and tell us what you are moving. Our team handles the move with you, content and customers included.

Can I sell a course for a limited time?

Yes. Close sales on a date, and everyone who bought before then goes through the course together. You can also schedule each lesson for a date.

Can I release content as a series?

Yes, as its own product. A series is a show, a documentary saga or a tutorial channel released in seasons and episodes, with trailers, sold once, by subscription or as part of a tier. You publish or schedule each episode.

Which plan do I need to sell courses?

You can sell courses on Lite, at $19 a month. Quizzes, certificates and your own domain come with Pro, at $49 a month.

What is a series?

A product made of episodes, grouped into seasons with trailers and watched on a player in your brand’s colors. Release a show, a documentary saga or a tutorial channel the way streaming services do.

How is a series different from a course?

A course teaches, with lessons, quizzes and certificates. A series is made to be watched, episode after episode, on a player built for viewing.

Can people watch an episode for free?

Yes. Add a trailer to each season and make any episode free, and visitors can watch before they buy.

Can I release episodes over time?

Yes. Publish each episode when it is ready, or schedule it for a date.

Do viewers keep their place?

Yes. Progress syncs across devices. Finished episodes are marked completed, and viewers can jump to the next one.

Do episodes have subtitles?

If you want them. On Pro, add AI subtitles, a summary and chapters to any episode.

How can I sell a series?

Once, by subscription, inside a tier or in a bundle with your other products. Coupons and affiliates work too.

Is video hosting included?

Yes. Sherpo hosts and transcodes every episode. Lite includes 10 GB of storage and Pro 100 GB, and episodes stream with no bandwidth fees. Pro also includes 600 AI video minutes a month per store.

Does Sherpo take a cut of my series sales?

No. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales on every plan. You pay a flat price, plus your payment provider’s standard processing fees.

Which plan do I need for a series?

Lite, at $19 a month, is enough to start, and Sherpo hosts your site on every plan. Pro, at $49 a month, adds your own domain, white-label (no Sherpo branding), a self-hosted option in your own codebase and the full feature set.

Can I have free and paid subscribers?

Yes. You can run a free tier and one or more paid tiers, and choose which tier each post is for.

Can I see my recurring revenue?

Yes. Subscriptions shows monthly recurring revenue, churn over 30 days and who is canceling, past due or paused.

Can I add a subscriber who paid elsewhere?

Yes. Record a subscription by hand when it was paid outside Sherpo, so your numbers stay complete.

Do I own my subscribers?

Yes. Your readers and subscribers are yours, and you can export them at any time.

Can I put a post behind a paywall?

Yes. Any post can be public or sit behind a tier.

Will my posts show up in search?

Yes. Search engines and AI chatbots can read your public posts. Each one gets its own address, with a title and a description for search results. If you would rather keep them out, turn indexing off.

Can it run on my own domain?

Yes. On Pro and Sherpo One, you can bring your own domain. On Lite, your site always lives at yoursite.sherpo.io.

Can I move from Substack, beehiiv or Ghost?

Yes. Contact us and tell us what you are moving. Our team handles the move with you, content and customers included.

Which plan do I need for blogs?

Lite, at $19 a month, is enough to start, and Sherpo hosts your site on every plan. Pro, at $49 a month, adds your own domain, white-label (no Sherpo branding), a self-hosted option in your own codebase and the full feature set.

Live Portfolios

See the page
What is a live portfolio?

A live portfolio is a product that shows your current positions to the people who follow it. Sell it by subscription or once, or share it for free. It updates when you change it, and Sherpo calculates the returns.

How are returns calculated?

Sherpo tracks time-weighted returns (TWR) and updates total returns every day. TWR is the method called for by the GIPS standards, the industry rules for reporting performance.

How do I record a trade?

In Sherpo, or through your MCP. You enter the price you paid, or take the market price.

When do subscribers see a trade?

Right away. A trade goes live in your portfolio as soon as you publish it, from Sherpo or from your AI through MCP.

Can I use leverage?

Yes. A negative cash position is supported.

Can I add notes and files?

Yes. You can comment on each trade or on a stock in general, up to 1,000 characters a comment. You can also attach files to each holding and keep a watchlist.

Does it cover crypto?

Yes. A portfolio can hold stocks and crypto.

Who can see my portfolio?

The people you choose: a tier, buyers who paid once, or anyone if you share it for free. When a subscription ends, access ends with it.

Does Sherpo execute trades or hold money?

No. Sherpo publishes what you choose to share with your subscribers. It does not execute trades or hold investments.

Can subscribers ask their own AI about my portfolio?

Which plan do I need for live portfolios?

Files & Links

See the page
What kind of files can I sell?

Any file type. You can upload several files, add external links, or do both in one product.

Can I sell software or an app?

Yes. License keys are delivered to each buyer automatically.

Can customers get updated files?

Yes. They always get the latest version of your files.

Can a customer pass a download link on?

Private files open only for customers with access, through links that expire, and you can see who downloaded which file. With standard or full security, PDF and XLSX files also carry the buyer’s details.

Do external links use my storage?

No. A link to a file stored elsewhere takes no space. Storage shows how much each kind of file and each place uses.

Can buyers stream a video without downloading it?

Yes. Set a video or audio file to stream, and buyers play it without a copy to keep. Other files can be downloaded or opened in the browser.

Can one file need a higher tier?

Yes. By default, each file follows the product. You can also require a higher tier for a file or make it a free preview.

Can I sell a link and not a file?

Yes. A product can be one or more external links, such as a shared sheet or a private recording, on their own or next to files.

Can I use a free download to grow my list?

Yes. Offer a free download or link, and customers log in to get it, so you collect their email.

How does PDF security work?

You choose for each file: no security, standard or full. Standard security puts a watermark on every page with your site address and the buyer’s email, IP address and timestamp. Full security also stamps those details across every page, so even a cropped screenshot shows where it came from.

How does XLSX security work?

On standard or full security, an XLSX download gets a read-only audit sheet with the buyer’s email, IP address and timestamp. The file is locked with encryption, so the sheet cannot be removed or changed. With no security, it downloads as you uploaded it.

Does Sherpo take a cut of my file sales?

No. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales on every plan. You pay a flat price, plus your payment provider’s standard processing fees.

Coaching

See the page
How does coaching work on Sherpo?

You connect your Cal.com account, pick the event types to feature, and Sherpo builds a booking page that fits your brand.

Do I need a Cal.com account?

Yes. You connect an existing Cal.com account and choose which paid or free event types to show.

Who handles bookings and payments?

Cal.com runs availability and bookings. For payment, you choose: charge through Cal.com, or create a product on Sherpo and sell the session there.

What does Sherpo add?

A landing page around your calendar, under your own brand. It shows what you offer, FAQs and the ways to reach you, and comes with analytics.

Does the page show my real availability?

Yes. Event slots and the booking flow come straight from Cal.com, which manages your availability.

Does Sherpo take a cut of my session payments?

No. Sherpo takes 0% of session payments, whether a session is paid on Cal.com or sold as a product on Sherpo. You pay your plan, plus the payment provider’s standard processing fee.

Will the page match my site?

Yes. Fonts, colors and sections match the rest of your Sherpo site, with no code.

Can I sell other products next to my booking page?

Yes. Your courses, files, blog and other products live on the same site.

Which plan do I need for a booking page?

Lite, at $19 a month, is enough to start. Sherpo hosts your site for you. Pro, at $49 a month, adds your own domain, white-label and the full feature set.

Can I use Sherpo for coaching only?

Yes. You can start with a booking page and add courses, files or a blog later.

What is MCP on Sherpo?

Every product you sell opens through MCP to the customers who bought it. Their AI assistant reads what they unlocked and answers from it. You can keep it to one tier as an upsell.

What do my customers need?

An AI assistant that supports MCP, such as Claude or ChatGPT. They connect at your site’s address followed by /mcp (yoursite.sherpo.io/mcp, or yourbrand.com/mcp on your own domain). Your site’s /mcp/help page, linked from every product, has the address to paste and the steps for each assistant.

What happens when a subscription ends?

Their assistant loses access when the paid period ends. You don’t have to do anything.

How is this different from running my store with AI?

Sherpo has 2 MCPs. The Merchant MCP is for you: your own assistant manages your store. The Customer MCP is for your customers: their assistants browse, buy and read what they unlocked. Every product you sell is open through it to the customers who bought it.

Which AI assistants does it work with?

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini CLI, Claude Code, Codex and any other assistant that supports MCP, the Model Context Protocol. Your site’s /mcp/help page lists the steps for each.

What can their assistant read through MCP?

What the customer unlocked. For a course, that means its lessons and, on Pro, their transcripts, so the assistant answers from what you taught. On each product’s MCP tab, you can also add prompts they run as slash commands.

Can I keep MCP access to one tier?

Yes. Keep a product’s MCP access to one tier and it works as an upsell. You can set a different tier for each channel: a course open on the web for Plus can be open through MCP only for Premium.

Can an AI read content a customer hasn’t bought?

No. The assistant signs in as the customer, so it reads what that customer has unlocked and nothing more. It can also list your products, buy or unlock one, and see the customer’s own transactions, subscriptions and certificates.

Does Sherpo take a cut of my sales?

No. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales on every plan. You pay a flat price, plus your payment provider’s standard processing fees.

Which plan do I need for MCP?

Lite, at $19 a month, is enough to start, and Sherpo hosts your site on every plan. Pro, at $49 a month, adds your own domain, white-label (no Sherpo branding), a self-hosted option in your own codebase and the full feature set.

AI Features

See the page
Which plans include the AI features?

Writing help in the editor and review insights are on every plan. Video transcripts, subtitles, summaries and chapters come with Pro.

Does Sherpo train AI on my data?

No. Sherpo never uses your content or your customers’ data to train any model. Writing help and the video features run only when you ask, while review insights run on their own as reviews come in. The model providers behind them process your content only to produce what you see, and never train on it. What they produce is yours.

Which languages can the editor translate into?

Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Does the AI change my text on its own?

No. In the editor, AI only works on the text you select, or continues from where you stopped, when you ask it to.

Can I change what the AI writes?

Yes. In the editor, what the AI writes goes into your text like anything you type, so you can edit it or undo it before you publish.

How are reviews sorted?

By topic and sentiment. Sherpo finds what reviews mention, such as quality or value for money, and counts the positive and negative ones.

Tips & Goals

See the page
What is Tips & Goals?

A way for your audience to support your work: quick tips on a page under your own brand, and goals with a target and live progress.

Can supporters choose the amount?

Yes. You offer preset amounts, and supporters can also enter any amount they like.

Can supporters leave a message?

Yes. They can add a message to their tip.

How do goals work?

You set a target, and your page shows the progress toward it in real time. You can post updates and milestones along the way.

Where can I share my tipping page?

Anywhere you can post a link. Put it on screen or in chat while you stream, in your bio, or on any page you own.

Does Sherpo take a cut of tips?

No. Sherpo takes 0% of your tips, like every sale. You pay a flat monthly price, plus your payment provider’s standard processing fee.

Which plan do I need for Tips & Goals?

Lite, at $19 a month, is enough to start, and Sherpo hosts your site on every plan. Pro, at $49 a month, adds your own domain, white-label (no Sherpo branding), a self-hosted option in your own codebase and the full feature set.

Can I accept tips and sell products too?

Yes. You can run a tipping page next to your courses, blogs and any other product, from one account.

Who owns my supporter list?

You do. Your customers and your transactions are yours, and you can export your customer list at any time.

Can supporters give every month?

Tips are one-off. For monthly support, offer a membership tier.

How do tips reach me?

Through your own Stripe account. Connect it in Business settings, under Payouts, and Stripe pays your tips out to your bank.

Can I check my tips from my own AI?

Yes. Connect Sherpo to Claude or another AI assistant that supports MCP, and ask it for a report.

Memberships

See the page
What is a membership on Sherpo?

A set of tiers with gated access. Each tier opens a part of what you publish, and customers subscribe daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.

What can I put behind a tier?

Any format you sell on Sherpo: courses, series, blog posts, files and links, and live portfolios. Your customers’ AI assistants can open each one through MCP, at the tier you choose.

Can I have a free tier?

Yes. A free tier lets people sign up and read or watch what you leave open. Free sign-ups are customers like everyone else in your list, and they count toward the customers your plan includes.

Can members upgrade on their own?

Yes. A customer who reaches content behind a higher tier can upgrade whenever they want, with nothing for you to do.

What happens when someone cancels?

Access ends when the paid period does. You do not have to remove it by hand.

Which billing periods can I offer?

Daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, and you can offer more than one. Subscriptions renew on their own.

Can I use coupons with tiers?

Yes. You can create a coupon for each tier, and keep it always on or give it an expiration date for a flash sale.

Can I give someone access for free?

Yes. Grant access to any customer, with a tier, a start date, an optional end date and a reason. Ended grants stay on record.

Can AI access require a higher tier?

Yes. Each product can require a different tier on each channel: your hosted site, a self-hosted front-end in your own codebase on Pro, MCP and feeds.

Is there a limit on members?

On Lite, yes: up to 2,500 customers in your list. On Pro, members are unlimited. Past Lite’s limit, you have 7 days over the limit, counted in total, to move up to Pro before new purchases and unlocks pause; existing members keep their access and their renewals until your stores go offline at 14 days, and the stores are deleted at 44.

Does Sherpo take a cut of my membership sales?

No. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales on every plan. You pay a flat price, plus your payment provider’s standard processing fees.

Which plan do I need for memberships?

Lite, at $19 a month, is enough to start, and Sherpo hosts your site on every plan. Pro, at $49 a month, adds your own domain, white-label (no Sherpo branding), a self-hosted option in your own codebase and the full feature set.

What is Sherpo in your own codebase?

It is Sherpo as a headless backend for selling digital content, behind your own front-end: your site is the front and Sherpo is the back. You keep your own website, and Sherpo handles payments, access, video, subscriptions and affiliates behind it.

How much does it cost to use Sherpo in my own codebase?

Using Sherpo in your own codebase comes with Sherpo Pro, at $49 a month, or $41 a month billed yearly. Pro includes 100 GB of storage, 600 AI video minutes a month per store, unlimited customers and every feature. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales.

Do I still get a website builder?

Yes. Pro includes your hosted site too, so you can build pages with the block-based page builder whenever you would rather not code them. When you self-host in your own codebase, you bring the front-end or have an agent build it.

Which frameworks does it work with?

Any framework, on any stack. You can write the site by hand in Next.js or Astro, or build it with Lovable, v0, Replit or Bolt.

Does it work with a vibecoded site?

Yes. A site made with Lovable, v0, Replit or Bolt can use Sherpo as its backend in the same way as a hand-built one.

How does my site know who has access?

Your site asks Sherpo whether a customer has access to a product or a tier. Then it shows the content they paid for.

Can I keep my own login system?

Yes. You can keep the authentication provider you already use.

Do I pay platform fees on sales?

No. Sherpo charges 0% on every plan. You pay only your payment provider’s standard processing fee.

Do I still get a dashboard?

Yes. You can see sales, edit prices, set redirects, manage integrations and watch your usage.

Can I use my own front-end and my Sherpo site together?

Yes, on Pro. Both run on the same products, customers and subscriptions, so nothing has to be migrated.

Can I test before I pay?

Yes. Lite and Pro start with a 14-day free trial, and you can keep your site offline until you are ready to launch.

Which plan lets me use Sherpo in my own codebase?

Pro. It lets you self-host your front-end, with Sherpo behind it in your own codebase, on top of the site Sherpo hosts for you. Lite has the hosted site, but not the self-hosted option. The Merchant API, webhooks, the Merchant MCP and the Customer MCP are on every plan.

How does managing my store from code differ from powering my own storefront?

The Merchant API manages your store: products, prices, coupons, orders, customers and everything else in the dashboard, and it is on every plan. In your own codebase, Sherpo drives your storefront: it lists products and lessons, checks out, unlocks access, shows descriptions and transcripts, and issues certificates. That comes with Pro.

Is there an MCP for each?

Yes. The Merchant MCP lets your AI run the store, and the Customer MCP lets your customers’ AI shop and learn on it. Both MCPs are on every plan.

Can one business run several stores?

Yes. A business can run several stores, each billed at its plan’s price, and you switch between them from the top of the dashboard.

Does each store get its own API clients?

Yes. Each store has its own settings, automations, integrations and API clients, so client projects stay separate.

Can I use only some parts of Sherpo?

Yes. Sherpo is modular, and each part works on its own. You can use it only for checkout and subscriptions, or add video, access and affiliates. Either way, you can keep your own front-end, payment provider and login.

Can an AI agent build on Sherpo in my own codebase?

Yes. On every plan, an agent can set up products, prices and coupons through the Merchant API or MCP. On Pro, it can also build the front-end and run checkout, access and lessons on that front-end with Sherpo in your own codebase.

Build with agents

What is MCP?

MCP is the Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI assistants use tools and data from other services. Sherpo’s Merchant MCP lets your AI work inside your Sherpo account.

Which AI tools does it work with?

Claude, ChatGPT, the Gemini CLI, Claude Code and Codex, each with its own setup steps, and any other client that supports MCP.

What can I ask my agent to do?

Anything you can do in the dashboard: create products, set prices and tiers, add coupons, manage orders and customers, and report on sales, subscribers and portfolio returns.

Is this included in my plan?

Yes. MCP is included on every Sherpo plan at no extra cost.

Can my agent build my website?

Yes, on Pro. A coding agent can build a self-hosted front-end in your own codebase and connect it to Sherpo. On your hosted site, you build it from blocks in Sherpo’s page builder: your homepage on Lite, plus up to 30 custom pages on Pro.

How do I check what my agent changed?

Everything your agent changes shows up in your Sherpo dashboard, where you can review it and change it by hand.

Can I test before going live?

Yes. You can keep your site offline while your agent sets up products, prices and coupons, and switch it on when you are ready.

Can my agent report on my sales?

Yes. You can ask for sales and orders, subscribers by tier, or the return on a live portfolio, and get the answer in plain language.

Do my customers need an AI tool?

No. The agent is your own tool for managing the store, and your customers buy and learn as usual. Their own assistants can connect to your store through the Customer MCP too, and read every product they bought through MCP.

Merchant MCP or Customer MCP?

The Merchant MCP is for you: your AI manages your store. The Customer MCP is for your customers: their AI browses your catalog, buys, unlocks and reads what they paid for.

Data and ownership

See the page
Who owns my customer list?

You do. Your customers are yours, and you can export the list whenever you like.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Exports are unlimited, and your customer list can be exported at any time.

What happens to access when someone cancels?

Their access ends automatically when the subscription does.

How do customers log in?

By email or with Google. In your own codebase, on Pro, you can keep the authentication provider you already use.

Can I delete a customer’s data?

Yes. When a customer asks, you can erase their data from your store. Your customer page counts how many customers were erased.

Who can see my customers’ data?

You, and on Pro the team members you invite, with roles that decide what each one can see and change, plus any apps or AI agents you connect. Sherpo and the providers that run the service access it only as our Terms and Privacy Policy allow.

Who can open my files?

You decide for each file. Private files open only for customers with access, through links that expire, and you can see which customer downloaded each one, and when. Public files open for anyone with the link.

Can I see where each file is used?

Yes. Storage shows every upload, who can open it and where it is used, and which files are not in use.

How are my videos protected?

Video protection is always on. It blocks downloads of your videos where they are embedded on a page.

How are my PDFs and spreadsheets protected?

You choose the security for each file. On standard security, every PDF page carries a watermark with your site address and the buyer’s email, IP address and timestamp. Full security also stamps the watermark across each page. On either level, an XLSX file gets a read-only audit sheet with the same details, locked with encryption. With no security, the file is delivered as you uploaded it.

Who processes payments?

Checkout runs on Stripe. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales, and you pay your payment provider’s standard processing fee.

Can I keep each business separate?

Yes. One login can hold several businesses, each with its own stores, team, payouts and billing.

Can I choose where my data is stored?

Yes. Each business can choose the region where its data lives, for example to meet compliance rules.

Can I keep my site private while I set it up?

Yes. Your site can stay offline until you are ready to launch.
