A membership on Sherpo is a set of tiers with gated access. Each tier decides which courses, posts, files and portfolios a customer can open. Customers subscribe monthly or yearly and can move up a tier on their own, and Sherpo takes 0% of what they pay.

What is a membership site?
A membership site is a website where people pay a recurring fee to open content that others cannot. On Sherpo, the content is whatever you publish: courses, blog posts, files and live portfolios. You sort it into tiers, customers subscribe monthly or yearly, and their access follows what they pay for.
Tiers decide who sees what.
A tier is a level of access. Put each piece of content behind the tier that should see it, and the rest takes care of itself.
- Free and paid levelsA free tier to grow your list, and paid tiers for the people who want more.
- Gated accessContent behind a tier stays closed to everyone below it.
- Self-serve upgradesA customer who reaches gated content can upgrade on the spot, with nothing for you to do.
Several formats behind one subscription.
One subscription can open the course, the blog and the live portfolio. Put everything you make behind the same tier.
- Every formatCourses, series, blog posts, files and live portfolios.
- One loginYour customers sign in once and see everything their tier includes.
- One customer listSomeone who reads your blog and takes your course is one customer in your list.
Access that follows the subscription.
Access follows what each customer pays for, so you never have to remove it by hand.
- Granted at checkoutAccess opens the moment someone subscribes.
- Renewals handledMonthly and yearly subscriptions renew on their own.
- Ended on its ownWhen someone cancels, access ends when the paid period does.
A different tier on each channel.
Set the tier that opens a product on each channel: your hosted site, a self-hosted front-end in your own codebase on Pro, MCP and feeds. A channel without its own rule follows the default.
- Web, your own codebase, MCP and feedsOpen a course on the web for Plus, and keep access through your customers’ AI for Premium.
- Rules for single lessonsGive one lesson its own rule, such as a free introduction on every channel.
- Higher tiers include the ones belowPremium opens everything Plus does, on every channel.
Give access without a sale.
Open a product to someone who did not buy it: a press copy, a partner, a goodwill gesture.
- A tier and a time framePick the tier, the start date and, if you want, an end date.
- A reason on recordNote why access was given. Ended and revoked grants stay listed.
- Ends on its ownA grant with an end date closes by itself, like a subscription.
Every subscription, in one view.
Monthly recurring revenue, churn over 30 days, renewals that are canceling or past due, and paused subscriptions, filtered by product.
- Subscriptions recorded by handAdd a subscription paid outside Sherpo, so your recurring revenue is complete.
- A buyer list on every productEach product lists its buyers and subscribers, their status and any cancel reason, ready to export.
- Status at a glanceActive, canceling, past due, paused or ended, for every subscriber.

Questions about memberships.
Still curious? Talk to us
What is a membership on Sherpo?
A set of tiers with gated access. Each tier opens a part of what you publish, and customers subscribe daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.
What can I put behind a tier?
Any format you sell on Sherpo: courses, series, blog posts, files and links, and live portfolios. Your customers’ AI assistants can open each one through MCP, at the tier you choose.
Can I have a free tier?
Yes. A free tier lets people sign up and read or watch what you leave open. Free sign-ups are customers like everyone else in your list, and they count toward the customers your plan includes.
Can members upgrade on their own?
Yes. A customer who reaches content behind a higher tier can upgrade whenever they want, with nothing for you to do.
What happens when someone cancels?
Access ends when the paid period does. You do not have to remove it by hand.
Which billing periods can I offer?
Daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, and you can offer more than one. Subscriptions renew on their own.
Can I use coupons with tiers?
Yes. You can create a coupon for each tier, and keep it always on or give it an expiration date for a flash sale.
Can I give someone access for free?
Yes. Grant access to any customer, with a tier, a start date, an optional end date and a reason. Ended grants stay on record.
Can AI access require a higher tier?
Yes. Each product can require a different tier on each channel: your hosted site, a self-hosted front-end in your own codebase on Pro, MCP and feeds.
Is there a limit on members?
On Pro, no: members are unlimited. Lite covers 2,500 customers in your list. Past that limit, you have 7 days over the limit, counted in total, to move up to Pro before new purchases and unlocks pause; existing members keep their access and their renewals until your stores go offline at 14 days, and the stores are deleted at 44.
Does Sherpo take a cut of my membership sales?
No. Sherpo takes 0% of your sales on every plan. You pay a flat price, plus your payment provider’s standard processing fees.
Which plan do I need for memberships?
Lite, at $19 a month, is enough to start, and Sherpo hosts your site on every plan. Pro, at $49 a month, adds your own domain, white-label (no Sherpo branding), a self-hosted option in your own codebase and the full feature set.
